Brandywine Valley Area Stops

When you are traveling in the Chester County, PA area, be sure to visit The Quilt Sampler, Chester County's only consignment shop for homemade quilts and quilt-themed crafts. Proprietor Donna Bacon offers bed quilts of all sizes, wallhangings, tabletop pieces, toys and games and other “quilt-y” items...lots of homemade treasures for gifts or decorating! A new addition to the Sampler is a small line of traditional fabrics on the second floor of the shop. The Quilt Sampler is located at 719 West Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square, in the historic stone house next to the Kennett Diner. The shop will be on your right as you drive out of downtown Kennett Square on State Street. Hours are 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Call (610) 444-1887 for directions or more information.

The next time you’re headed to The Quilt Sampler, leave a little time to explore - you’ll be surprised at how much Kennett Square has to offer! There really is a great variety of dining and shopping options - interesting antique and collectible shops, bakeries, art galleries, women’s boutiques, a produce market, gourmet food shops, a specialty paper store, winetasting room, tea room, and restaurants for every taste! We even got word that a tattoo parlor is opening soon!! Something for everyone!

If you find yourself in the Lancaster, PA, area with a tooth for ice cream, former BVQ member Cindy Barone recommends her favorite ice cream shop, Lapp Valley Farms. It's located at 244 Mentzer Road in New Holland (phone: 717-354-7988). From in Bird-In-Hand, drive east on Route 340, turn left on Hollander Road, turn right on Yost Road, turn right on Peters Road, then turn left on Mentzer Road. Lapp's is on the left. Try their homemade ice cream in a homemade waffle cone for $3! Get there early - they close at sunset!
